VA Disability Rating: Polyglandular Syndrome (Diagnostic Code 7912)
Endocrine System · 38 CFR § 4.119
What Is Polyglandular Syndrome?
Polyglandular syndrome — also known as multiple endocrine neoplasia or autoimmune polyglandular syndrome — is an endocrine condition that can affect more than one of the body's hormone-producing glands. Because it can involve several glands at once, the way it shows up varies from person to person, depending on which parts of the endocrine system are affected.
This condition is rated by the VA under Diagnostic Code 7912 within the Endocrine System section of the rating schedule.
How the VA Rates Polyglandular Syndrome
Polyglandular syndrome does not have a single fixed set of rating percentages of its own. Instead, the VA evaluates it according to its major manifestations — that is, based on the specific glandular conditions a person is experiencing.
According to the criteria, these major manifestations include, but are not limited to:
- Type I diabetes mellitus
- Hyperthyroidism
- Hypothyroidism
- Hypoparathyroidism
- Addison's disease
Because the syndrome can present through different underlying conditions, the applicable rating levels depend on the manifestations being evaluated.
What the VA Looks For
When rating polyglandular syndrome, the VA focuses on the major manifestations of the condition — identifying which endocrine problems (such as those listed above) are present and evaluating accordingly.
Since the listed manifestations are examples and not an exhaustive list ("including, but not limited to"), the VA considers the full range of how the syndrome affects the individual's endocrine system.
This information is drawn from the VA rating schedule for Diagnostic Code 7912 (38 CFR § 4.119). Every claim is evaluated on its own facts and medical evidence.

Find your level in the stack
Read each rung against what your medical records already say. The level your records document today is the one the VA can support today.
Name the gap
Look at the rung above yours and write down exactly what it asks for that your file does not show yet — a diagnosis, a measurement, a prescribed brace, a doctor’s opinion linking it to service.
Claim it by code
