# Vitiligo (VA Diagnostic Code 7823)

## What Is Vitiligo?

Vitiligo is a skin condition affecting the skin. Under the VA's rating schedule, it is evaluated based on whether the areas of skin affected are **exposed** or **not exposed**.

## Available Rating Levels

The VA assigns one of two disability rating levels for vitiligo under Diagnostic Code 7823:

| Rating | Criteria |
|--------|----------|
| **10%** | With exposed areas affected |
| **0%** | With no exposed areas affected |

## What the VA Looks For

When rating vitiligo under Diagnostic Code 7823, the key factor is **whether exposed areas of the body are affected**:
