## Notes

- NoteâFollowing the cessation of surgical, X-ray, antineoplastic chemotherapy or other therapeutic procedure, the rating of 100 percent shall continue with a mandatory VA examination at the expiration of six months. Any change in evaluation based upon that or any subsequent examination shall be subject to the provisions of § 3.105(e) of this chapter. If there has been no local reoccurrence or metastasis, rate on residuals as voiding dysfunction or renal dysfunction, whichever is predominant.
- Note: When evaluating any claim involving loss or loss of use of one or more creative organs, refer to § 3.350 of this chapter to determine whether the veteran may be entitled to special monthly compensation. # Malignant Neoplasms of the Genitourinary System (VA Diagnostic Code 7528)

## Understanding This Condition

Malignant neoplasms of the genitourinary system are cancers affecting the organs involved in urination and reproduction. Because these are active malignancies, the VA evaluates this condition under Diagnostic Code 7528 within § 4.115b.

## Available Rating Level

Under this diagnostic code, there is a single scheduled evaluation level:

## What the VA Looks For

The VA assigns a **100 percent** evaluation for an active malignant neoplasm of the genitourinary system.

### After Treatment Ends

According to the rating schedule notes:

- **Mandatory follow-up examination.** Following the cessation of surgical, X-ray, antineoplastic chemotherapy, or other therapeutic procedure, the 100 percent rating continues, with a **mandatory VA examination at the expiration of six months**.
- **Reevaluation.** Any change in evaluation based on that examination (or a subsequent one) is subject to the provisions of § 3.105(e).
- **Rating on residuals.** If there has been **no local recurrence or metastasis**, the condition is rated on residuals — as either **voiding dysfunction** or **renal dysfunction**, whichever is predominant.

### Special Monthly Compensation

When a claim involves **loss or loss of use of one or more creative organs**, the VA refers to § 3.350 to determine whether the veteran may be entitled to **special monthly compensation**.
