## Understanding This Condition

The coronoid process is a bony projection of the lower jaw (mandible). Diagnostic Code 9909 addresses the **loss of the coronoid process** and is rated by the VA under § 4.150, which covers dental and oral conditions.

The VA assigns a disability rating based on whether the loss affects one side or both sides of the jaw.
